8. All energy sources must be taken into account

This point is one of the most critical of the entire process.

When talking about foreclosure, many immediately think of electricity. However, industrial installations often include several sources of energy, sometimes simultaneous:

• electric
• mechanical
• hydraulique
• pneumatique
• thermique
• gravitaire
• pression
• spring tension
• inertie
• fluid under pressure
• energy accumulated in an organ or line.

A log is dangerous if it misses a single significant energy. A machine can be de-energized but still under pressure. A valve may be closed but stored energy may remain. A motor can be isolated but a part can descend by gravity. A pneumatic system can release residual energy.

In the event of non-compliance, the deviation must be clearly formulated: forgetting secondary energy sources, lack of multi-energy analysis, partial reading of the operating mode, or failure to identify residual energies.
