Understanding the technical family: Field maneuvers

What this family covers

It mainly concerns: production units, valves, process lines, pumps, compressors, control panels, alarms, sampling points and ATEX zones. It covers situations such as: patrol, parameter monitoring, valve operation, start-up, stop, degraded situation, loading/unloading, purging, sampling or passing of instructions.

Why a structured report is necessary

A free comment such as “intervention carried out” or “defect corrected” is not sufficient. It does not allow us to know what was verified, what value was measured, what part was replaced, what reservation was expressed or what risk remains present.

The SOOKSOOK form forces more precise writing. The user must identify the support, describe the initial state, respond to the checkpoints, note the values, qualify the anomalies and conclude on the final state.

What the user should remember

• The form must be chosen based on the work actually carried out.
• The report must be understandable by another person who was not present.
• The vocabulary must remain professional, factual and verifiable.
• A good report enriches the technical history of the equipment or area.

Field application

Before starting to fill out the report, the user must be able to answer three questions: what am I intervening on, why am I intervening, and what result must be obtained to consider the intervention complete.
